Father Doctor Dmytro Blazejowskyj was born on August 21, 1910 in the village Vyslik Horishniy, in Sianik district of Lemkivshchyna. He stidied in the Gymnasium in Przemysl (1922-1930). He studied Philosophy, Theology and History in 1933-1946 at Catholic universities in Rome, completed two doctoral studies (in Theology (1942) – the University of the Urbaniana; in History (1946) – the Gregorian University). He was ordained on April 2, 1939 in Rome. After that, he worked as a priest in various places of the USA – Ansonia (Connecticut) (1946-1947), St. Joseph (Missouri) (1947-1955), Omaha and Lincoln (Nebraska), Denver (Colorado); and organized parishes in those cities in 1950-1955; Denver (Colorado) (1955-1958), Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) (1958-1959), Houston (Texas) (1959-1973). Since 1973 he lived in Rome, wrote scientific works and embroidered icons. After 1973, he published 25 scientific works and 10 articles
in History of the Church, and Ukrainian Religious Embroideres, 14 albums of embroidered designs.
On Ukraine gaining independence, Dmytro Blazejowskyj started to come with exhibitions of his icons and gonfalons. In 1992-2010 he held 170 exhibitions of embroidered icons in Ukraine and 55 exhibitions outside Ukraine. On May 6, 1999 the author opened his own museum of embroidered icons in Lviv. Till 2010 he lived in Rome, where he celebrated 100th anniversary and 70th anniversary of priest work. He solemnly celebrated his 100th anniversary in Lviv, the celebration was held on August 20, 2010 at the Maria Zankovetska Theatre. The great patriot and benefactor passed away on Easter Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the age of 101. Dmytro Blazejowskyj is buried at Yaniv Cemetery in Lviv.
