On Thursday, June 6, 1999, on the day of St. George, an embroidered icons museum was opened in Lviv. This is the first museum of the kind not only in Lviv, but also in whole Ukraine. The museum of Father Doctor Dmytro Blazejowskyj on Viacheslava Chornovola Avenue, 2A, became very popular with individual visitors, same as group excursions of pupils, students and followers.

Initially, more than 70 embroidered icons were exhibited at the museum. People, their hair, their clothes, all their things and the entire background are embroidered with acrylic thread; parts of the body – face, arms and legs – with DMC thread. Over time, the exposition has increased to 250 embroidered icons. During his long and interesting life, Father Blazejowskyj embroidered more than 350 icons and started a new direction in art 'embroidered icon', surrounded himself with a group of followers. He started to embroider when he turned 60.

Among the icons are – Ukrainian miraculous icons of Mother of God, iconostasis and icons of 12 holidays. There are 4 more icons of Mother of God: Sofia Oranta, two Theotokos and Hodegetria; icon of Jesus Christ, one of a matching pair of Hodegetria. There are 6 passions icons. Most of the exposition are icons of saint men ans women. Besides, there are embroidered portraits of – Taras Shevchenko, Ivan Franko, Lesya Ukrainka, Markiyan Shashkevich, and the embroidered Slastion's painting 'Bandurists', Mukhin's 'Glory of the Cossacks', 'Swans over the Dnipro', three embroidered flower compositions. The great value of these icons is that all the patterns are printed in the Museum and everyone can embroider them.

On May 5, 2016, a new Embroidered Icons Museum was consecrated and moved to a more suitable and larger place for exposition. Address of the museum is: Lviv, Str. Theatrical, 26. Everyone who is interested in religious embroidery can watch embroidered icons, images and portraits in the museum.
